20 SEPTEMBER 18

Lab 11 will reopen today following ongoing discussions with the local licensing authorities and in recognition of improvements made to our policies and procedures over the past couple of weeks. We still have work to do but we look forward to welcoming you all back. See our social channels for details of this weeks events.

Following our previous statement we have been in consultation with the relevant authorities. West Midlands Police applied for an expedited review and interim suspension of our licence (not a revocation / we have not lost our license).

We are working with the authorities to identify new, additional measures to further improve safety at our venue. We have held positive meetings with WMP over the last few days to discuss our plans, but this does mean that Lab 11 will be closed for a little longer and that this weekend’s (Friday 14 – Sunday 16 September) events will be rescheduled. No other events have been rescheduled at this stage.

We know this will be disappointing to our customers but we do take your safety extremely seriously and want to make sure you can enjoy many more great nights at Lab 11.

We will provide a further update in the coming days, keep tabs on our website and social channels for more news.

Can’t wait to see you again, Lab11

5 SEPTEMBER 18

Lab 11 will be closed this weekend, Friday 7, Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 September 2018

Hello everybody,

As you may be aware, last weekend at around 1.30am on Sunday 2 September, our staff spotted a man in Lab 11 who appeared unwell and they immediately called our on-site medical team and an ambulance. Tragically, and despite the best efforts of the medics and ambulance crew, the man’s condition deteriorated, he suffered a cardiac arrest and later died. Our deepest sympathies go out to his family.

We take the wellbeing of our customers extremely seriously so I have decided that Lab 11 will not open this weekend (Friday 7, Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 September) to allow us a period of reflection and to review our procedures to see if there is anything we can learn. Naturally, the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident are being investigated and we are providing full cooperation to the relevant authorities.

Events due to take place this weekend will be rescheduled (not cancelled) and we will post updates on our website and social media when we can.

Will Power, Lab11
